On 5 March the official opening ceremony of Petrosyans’ Gastro Yard took place in Araghyugh village, Kotayk region. The event was organized by UNDP “Integrated Rural Tourism Development” project, funded by the Russian Federation and implemented in close partnership with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
Mihaela Stojkoska, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Armenia, Romanos Petrosyan, Governor of Kotayk region, and Natalya Viktorova, Third Secretary at the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Armenia, welcomed the guests.
Petrosyans’ Gastro Yard is a home-based cultural center, where guests can join master classes of making puppets and carpets, can witness music and dance performances by local people and enjoy Armenian food and beverages.
The concept of Gastro Yards was developed and realized by the “Integrated Rural Tourism Development” project. The aim of Gastro Yards is to give rural population an opportunity and means to host guests in their own household by offering them authentic food, beverage and cultural experience. This will also contribute to the development of local infrastructure and will help boost rural tourism in remote areas of Armenia.
