Community development

Since 2015, UNDP has been implementing “Integrated Support to Rural Development: Building Resilient Communities” project funded by the Russian Federation and targeted at rehabilitation of 45 borderline communities of Tavush region. This is done through development planning; supporting agriculture and agro-processing; community infrastructure rehabilitation measures; and introducing sustainability activities. In order to increase beneficiary ownership, UNDP requires at least 20% co-financing by the final beneficiaries.

Agricultural development

UNDP aims at strengthening and newly establishing producer groups, effectively engaging them in value addition activities, strengthening value chains that provide improved access to better quality food, improving access to local and international markets and ensuring environmentally-friendly farming and food processing activities. This will also contribute to increased rural income and employment.

Rural Tourism Development

UNDP aims at development of rural tourism in 60 villages of Armenia with the objective of creating sustainable income-generating opportunities as supplemental income source to bring down the level of rural poverty, contribute to equal territorial development and shape conducive environment for rural development. We apply integrated approach targeting strong local social networks that explicitly link local actors for the purpose of jointly promoting and maintaining the economic, social, cultural, natural, and human resources of the localities.

Improving business environment

UNDP aims to improve the investment and doing business environment in Armenia, leading to strengthening of Armenia’s competitiveness.  For this to happen, we intend to utilize the set of efficient and participative tools and methodologies developed by UNCTAD, aimed mainly at clarifying and simplifying administrative procedures.
