PM Nikol Pashinyan received UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Shombi Sharp

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Shombi Sharp.

The Prime Minister attached importance to the active and efficient activities of the UN Office in our country and emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Armenia pays great attention to the cooperation with the UN. Nikol Pashinyan expressed conviction that close cooperation with the UN Office in Yerevan will continue in the future, which will contribute to the successful implementation of various programs.

Shombi Sharp stressed that the UN Office in Yerevan is committed to supporting the efforts to overcome the challenges facing Armenia, and implement reforms in different areas. The UN Resident Coordinator noted that the Meghri border crossing point modernisation strategy is underway.

The interlocutors highlighted the possible UNDP support to Armenia’s electoral processes and discussed the mechanisms that would promote the conduct of transparent elections and increase public confidence in the process.

Nikol Pashinyan and Shombi Sharp also touched upon the issues related to the government’s reform program and possible international assistance to it.
