The newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator presented the copies of his credentials to the Foreign Minister of Armenia

On March 6, the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Shombi Sharp presented the copies of his credentials to the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian.

Edward Nalbandian welcomed the guest and mentioned that since its membership Armenia actively participates in the work of the United Nations and its structures and intends to continue the positive participation agenda for the implementation of the UN objectives. The Foreign Minister highly assessed the effective cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the UN Armenia Country Office underlining that the newly appointed Head of the UN Armenia Office will contribute to the effective implementation of UN programs in Armenia.

Shombi Sharp expressed gratitude for the reception and noted that he would spare no effort to ensure the continuation of fruitful implementation of joint projects of Armenia and the United Nations in different spheres.

They touched upon the preparations for the summit of the International Organization of Francophonie that is to be held in Yerevan in October.At the meeting, the sides touched upon the Sustainable Development Goals and in that context both sides were pleased to note that Armenia is actively pursuing the process of their implementation.

Edward Nalbandian presented the efforts made by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
