  • 45 bordering communities in Tavush will benefit from a community development project funded by the Russian Federation Mar 18, 2015

    Yerevan, 18 March 2015 – Over the next 5 years 45 bordering communities of Tavush region, with an overall population of 62,000, will have the opportunity to develop their own community plans, prioritizing activities - such as infrastructure and income generating activities - for financing within the framework of “Integrated Support to Rural Development: Building Resilient Communities” project, financed by the Government of the Russian Federation and implemented by the UNDP in Armenia, in close partnership with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations. The project budget is over USD 5 million.

    Yerevan, 01 October 2014 - On 28-30 September Helen Clark, Administrator of UNDP and Chair of the UN Development Group came to Armenia on her first visit to the country. In discussions with government, civil society, women leaders, and international development partners, Clark emphasized the principle of citizen engagement in designing development assistance– ““UNDP is engaging with Armenia’s people and government to build development solutions to the challenges of today and the future. Armenians are very pragmatic and highly capable people. During my short visit I have been very impressed with the level of professionalism and talent here. I am also encouraged by the emerging women’s leadership, including at the local level”.

  • The First Successful Experience of Enveloping a Multi-Apartment Building Sep 19, 2014

    The official launch of the enveloped building located in #6 Daniel Varouzhan street, Avan administrative district, took place today. The enveloping of the building has been financed by the UNDP-GEF “Improving Energy Efficiency in Buildings” project and co-financed by Yerevan Municipality. Staff of Avan administrative district and “Avan-3” condominium have their contribution during the implementation of the project.

  • The Avedisian School will be the first certified “green” building in Armenia Jun 3, 2014

    Yerevan, 03 June 2014 – The Khoren and Shooshanig Avedisian School and Community Center in Yerevan’s Malatia-Sebastia district will be a landmark “green” building and the first international LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building in Armenia. The Avedisian School is a joint project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) and Edward Avedisian, a trustee at the American University of Armenia and a member of the AMAA Board of Directors. The state of the art school, when it opens in September 2014, will provide a quality education to 570 Armenian students, who will be able to see, feel and move around in a sustainable design and a low-carbon footprint building.

    Yerevan, 11 April 2014 – Today, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia, the EU Delegation to Armenia, the RA National Security Council and the RA State Revenue Committee jointly presented the goals, objectives, budget, implementation timeframe and perspectives of the EU funded and UNDP implemented “Provision of Equipment and Infrastructure for the Bagratashen - Sadakhlo Border Crossing Point between Armenia and Georgia and enhancement of their capacities” project at an opening conference held at “Armenia Marriott” hotel in Yerevan.
