Silver Gender Seal

The UNDP Armenia Country Office has worked tirelessly to mainstream gender equality into all its programmes and projects. One of the measures taken by the Country Office was becoming part of the UNDP Gender Equality Seal Programme.

The Gender Equality Seal that was launched in 2011 has already engaged 57 Country Offices and has helped bring significant change and development in the area of gender equality by building positive synergies between different domains of gender mainstreaming.

There are three levels to the Gender Equality Seal: bronze, silver and gold. To receive a Gender Seal, the Country Office has to focus on seven key areas, which are but not limited to management systems, staff capacities, environment, knowledge management, partnerships, programmes and projects and, of course, results. This is designed to impact change multi-dimensionally and shows that all areas are directly interlinked when it comes to development.

On June 5th, 2017 Armenia Country Office was awarded with the Silver Gender Equality Seal in a special ceremony in New York that recognized focusing of our projects on equal rights and equal opportunities for all and delivering transformational gender equality results across the mentioned dimensions.

It speaks great volumes for the Country Office, since achieving this level of certification it requires meticulous planning and implementation of a detailed action plan to make all of this possible. This in its turn is a reflection of the hard work and eagerness of the UNDP in Armenia Team to constantly improve, demonstrating high organizational skills and immeasurable hard work.

UNDP in Armenia is proud of this achievement, which would not be possible without the support of all our partners. Inspired by this new achievement we are looking forward to the new Seal cycle. With the continued support of all our counterparts, we hope to make more change and achieve Gold level in Gender Seal 2018-2019 round.
