South-South cooperation between Armenia and MoldovaOct 21, 2016
On October 18-20, 2016 UNDP in Armenia hosted a delegation from UNDP in Moldova as part of the South-South cooperation to share experiences in forest-related projects and the overall forestry sector in Armenia.
UNDP-EU Clima East Pilot Projects in Moldova and Armenia initiated the exchange mission.
The Moldavian delegation was comprised of representatives from UNDP in Moldova, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the State Forestry Agency Moldsilva and the State Environment Inspectorate.
Experiences and lessons learnt from completed and ongoing forest sector projects of UNDP, WWF-Armenia, GIZ Integrated Biodiversity Management in South Caucasus and the Armenia Tree Project were presented to colleagues from Moldova. The Moldavian delegation representatives also had meetings with representatives of the Ministries of Nature Protection and Agriculture to learn forest management practices in forestry and protected areas from a forest ecosystem sustainability standpoint.
During the field visit to Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions representatives of the Moldavian delegation got acquainted with practices at the nursery of Hayantar SNCO, Clima East Pilot Project in Armenia, Sevan National Park and local communities.
