A Training Center was opened at the Crisis Management State Academy

Yerevan, 16 May 2014 – Today, the opening ceremony of the Multi-functional Simulation Training Center took place at the premises of the Crisis Management State Academy (CMSA) of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative a.i. Claire Medina, representatives of the CMSA, DRR National Platform, German Red Cross in Baden – Wuerttemberg and the SDC took part in the ceremony.

The main objective of the Center is to provide theoretical and practical trainings and simulation exercises on disaster risk management, first aid, rescue operations management, 911 call center dispatcher duties etc. both for the students and professionals from DRM field, ambulance service and police.

The special needs of people with disabilities were also considered and now the premises are reconstructed to be comfortable for them as well. UNDP contributed in provision of equipment and reconstruction of the building’s 5th floor to the needs of disabled people.
