Armenia Hosted an Annual Meeting of Senior UNDP Representatives from Europe and CIS
Yerevan, 12 April 2013 - On 10-12 April UNDP in Armenia hosted a cluster meeting of UNDP Deputy Resident Representatives from across the Europe and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region.
Greeting the participants, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Ashot Hovakimyan highly appreciated UNDP’s contribution towards advancement of sustainable development in Armenia.
“UNDP has enjoyed a very productive and strategic collaboration with the government, the private sector, and the civil society, demonstrating UNDP’s role as an impartial facilitator and promoter of Armenia’s transition towards a functional democracy and a dynamic free market economy,” stressed Bradley Busetto, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative, in his opening remarks.He also thanked the Government of Armenia for its support and hospitality in organizing this regional meeting.
During the three-day event senior UNDP representatives from the region shared their ideas, experiences and best practices tailored to the development agendas of host countries. They also discussed UNDP strategic priorities, as well as talked about innovative methods and tools for knowledge transfer and communications.
The meeting participants also reflected on the “final push” for the achievement of MDGs and highlighted the unique experiences of the RBEC region that can add to the formulation of the new post-2015 global development agenda.
