  • Women and Local Governance Dec 1, 2015

    Strengthening the synergies between the activities of the “Women in Local Democracy” (WiLD) project and the ongoing and planned national reforms in local governance (focused on women’s participation, and the application of principles of accountability, transparency and integrity (ATI) in local governance processes) were the main topics of the “Women and Local Governance” Community of Practice - a three-day workshop organized by the EU-funded and UNDP implemented WiLD project.

  • Ahead of Climate Summit in Paris Nov 30, 2015

    On 30 November UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Claire Medina and French Ambassador to Armenia Jean Francois Cherpantier were hosted by Nver Mnatsakanyan, the author of the “Interview” daily TV program broadcasted on Public TV of Armenia. The topic of the joint interview was the Climate Summit preparations in Paris, UNDP’s role in tackling climate change issues globally, and in Armenia, in particular.

  • Opening of the Dsegh Nature Visitor Center Nov 12, 2015

    On 12 November the opening of Dsegh Nature Visitor Center took place. The center was established by the joint efforts of UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme, the Rhone Alpes Regional Council in France, SVS BirdLife Switzerland, and the Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds.

    Yerevan, 09 September 2015 – Around 60 fresh graduates, mostly displaced youth from Syria and Ukraine, will be offered six-month paid internships in private companies in Armenia as a result of a tripartite partnership between the UNDP and UNHCR Representations in Armenia, and the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA).

  • UNDP launches storytelling contest to amplify climate coverage on the run up to Paris summit Aug 27, 2015

    Geneva, 27 August 2015 – UNDP has launched today a global story telling contest,Voices2Paris, to contribute to raising public awareness on the negative impacts of climate change as well as on the opportunities and solutions seen in actions by individuals and governments alike across vulnerable developing countries worldwide. “We want to provide young journalists in developing countries a unique opportunity to contribute to the global debate on climate change in the run-up to COP21, while building their capacity and providing recognition for excellence” noted Neil Buhne, UNDP Geneva Director.
