In fact, this year’s make or break Climate Change Summit in Paris has been billed as a defining moment in the history of mankind. As a leading development actor, UNDP is supporting this fight, playing a key role in raising public awareness on climate change and supporting sustainable development throughout the world. Today we proudly announce that UNDP in Armenia has become officially Climate Neutral!
A Modern Border Crossing Point in Bagratashen

Yerevan, 09 September 2015 – Around 60 fresh graduates, mostly displaced youth from Syria and Ukraine, will be offered six-month paid internships in private companies in Armenia as a result of a tripartite partnership between the UNDP and UNHCR Representations in Armenia, and the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA).
UNDP launches storytelling contest to amplify climate coverage on the run up to Paris summit

Geneva, 27 August 2015 – UNDP has launched today a global story telling contest,Voices2Paris, to contribute to raising public awareness on the negative impacts of climate change as well as on the opportunities and solutions seen in actions by individuals and governments alike across vulnerable developing countries worldwide. “We want to provide young journalists in developing countries a unique opportunity to contribute to the global debate on climate change in the run-up to COP21, while building their capacity and providing recognition for excellence” noted Neil Buhne, UNDP Geneva Director.

ADB, UNICEF AND UNDP PARTNER TO IMPROVE SCHOOL SEISMIC SAFETY IN ARMENIA

Yerevan, 5 August 2015 — Asian Development Bank (ADB), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia signed an agreement on collaboration on August 5 to strengthen partnership on Seismic Safety Improvement Program in Armenia. In the framework of the document partners will direct their efforts towards improving seismic safety of schools throughout the country to reduce casualties and damages in school buildings during earthquakes. The program will enable better use of school buildings to ensure a safe, resource-efficient and inclusive environment for school children.
Reduction of the impact of hazardous waste in the focus of UNDP and the Government of Armenia

Yerevan, 26 May 2015 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia and the Government of the Republic of Armenia will work together to reduce the impacts of hazardous waste and related contaminated sites from Soviet times, in order to protect human and environmental health through the effective elimination of obsolete pesticide stockpiles, particularly persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in Armenia.
